Companies House ID Verification Became Compulsory from the 18^th November 2025

Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, you must verify your identity with Companies House if you are:

• A director
• The equivalent of a director – i.e. general partners and managing officers
• A director of an overseas company registered in the UK
• A Person with Significant Control (PSC)
• An Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) or
• Someone who files for a company – i.e. a company secretary

 

Important Timelines

All existing appointments have a 12-month review transition period to complete their ID verification process, while all new appointments will need to complete the ID Verification immediately.

This mandatory, one-time process aims to improve register activity. Failure to comply within the 12-month transition period may result in fines or prosecution.
